Diverticula – Treatment Options Available
Left untreated, diverticulosis may lead to more serious complications such as hemorrhoids or colon cancer.
As the cause of diverticula remains unknown, doctors treat diverticula as a group.
Diverticula in the abdomen are characterized by pain in the right upper abdominal pain and tenderness. The typical symptoms are left lower abdominal pain, fever, and bowel movements. The diagnosis depends largely on the findings of a CT scan, which can reveal the presence of blood clots in the colon. Patients with mild diverticula symptoms are usually treated using a liquid diet and antibiotic pills given intravenously, while those with more severe symptoms are often hospitalized for surgery and/or vein grafts.
Diverticula in the small intestine are also referred to as leptospirosis. They are also known as diverticula, because they occur in the intestines, not the rectum or colon. They are generally the result of too much pressure in the colon. The most common type of diverticula is diverticulum. The diverticula in the large intestine are called mucosa diverticula and they can be found anywhere between the colon and the anus.
The causes of diverticula are varied and the treatment for diverticula is also varied. The common causes include irritable bowel syndrome, pregnancy, diarrhea caused by the consumption of medications, chronic constipation, pregnancy, diabetes, obesity, gallbladder disease, tumors in the colon, viral infections, and even infection from parasites.
Diverticula are not usually life-threatening and usually disappear on their own in time. In some cases, doctors may prescribe antibiotics as an outpatient. In other cases, surgery or an intervention such as a surgical approach is recommended.
Many people who suffer from diverticular don’t have a clue as to the treatment options available. There are several treatment options for diverticula, but it will depend on the severity of symptoms, the type of symptoms, the age of the patient, the extent of the symptoms, and the patient’s overall health.
One treatment option is surgery.
This is considered to be the only reliable method to get rid of diverticula. It is highly effective and is the most suitable way of treating diverticula. In this procedure, the diverticula are removed through an incision made in the small intestine.
A laparoscopic procedure involves opening a large section of the intestine. This procedure involves making multiple incisions to remove diverticula. The surgeon then makes several small cuts on each segment of the intestine to remove the diverticula and replaces them with sutures that are stitched together.
Another procedure is known as a sigmoidoscopy. This procedure involves inserting a tube into the anus and placing a camera through it so that it can view the entire extent of the diverticulum.
The last method of treatment is called laser therapy. This method is very successful and works very well when compared to other forms of treatment.
Traditional medicine is usually administered by means of anti-inflammatory drugs. Antibiotics can be used as well. Anti-inflammatory drugs are given to reduce pain, ease itching, and swelling.
Colon hydrotherapy involves the application of water and a fiber-like material in the form of a gel that is placed in the colon and used to flush the diverticulosis away. This is a good solution for some people. This method is also very effective in relieving constipation and is considered to be effective in many patients who have constipation.
If you are suffering from diverticulosis, talk to your doctor about your treatment options. There are numerous options for your condition. All of these options can be very helpful and effective, but they will depend on your personal case.
